New Year Brings Back Timeless Wedding Trends in 2014

A new year means fabulous new wedding trends to look forward to, and this year, it’s all about the romance. Bridal Guide predicts that in 2014, brides will see a return to the classics, favoring soft, feminine colors like pale peach and nude tones, hints of gold to add some sparkle and sweeter, lusher and more heartfelt weddings all around.

According to Bridal Guide, pink is shyly making a comeback next year. Instead of bold and bright, brides will go for a softer vibe, choosing sweet and subtle shades to include in their color schemes.

Metallics will be huge in 2014, but they won’t dominate color schemes. Just a touch of a metallic tone like gold can add a glamorous flair and complements almost any color scheme beautifully. Gold sugar stripes on wedding cakes, linens with gold thread and subtle, pale gold lampshades are already high on the trend list.

Silver and crystal centerpieces with lush, romantic flowers or candles will be another big trend in the coming year. According to Bridal Guide (link), they feel elegant and retro at the same time. Big, looping floral arrangements can make the otherwise formal feel of the vessel more friendly and welcoming.

Fabulous Fall Weddings

Summer and spring weddings are splendid, but fall weddings are a class of their own. Rich and warm autumn colors, cool, fresh air outside and stunning fall fashion trends make autumn the perfect season to have a wedding.

According to Laura Mease, owner of Laura’s Couture Collection, “Brides feel their prettiest in the fall! They still have a healthy glow from summer and are at their thinnest between summer and the winter holidays. It’s also a great time to spend with family and friends.”

Check out the top five reasons to love fall weddings from Bridal Guide:

5. The food! Think apple cider signature cocktails, a delicious soup course and donuts for dessert.

4. It’s the perfect time to wear your favorite boots under your wedding dress.

3. You can create gorgeous décor on the cheap — crunchy leaves, votives, and beautiful branches all make lovely decorations. Plus, they're more budget-friendly than flowers.

2. Because of the way engagement rings sparkle in the fall sun.

1. The romance of this season is undeniable.

The Knot Wedding Party - Kansas City

The Knot Wedding Vendor Mixer at Dark Horse Distillery

Timing was more than perfect for the wedding vendor mixer party hosted by The Knot and The Dark Horse Distillery. It was the eve of the first snowstorm of 2013 and Kansas City wedding vendors braved the cold to join in friendship with one another, enjoy great cocktails and goodies, as well as check out one of Kansas City's newest venues.

We enjoyed an evening visiting and reconnecting with old friends and meeting a few new ones, too!

Drinks served were "The Kiss", "The Diamond Ring", and "The Empire".
Out of these fun-named cocktails, Laura's favorite was The Kiss - perfect name for a wedding shin-dig, right?!

Laura catching up with former a former bride and employee! Time is flying!

Chatting up with Feast of Fancy.

A few talented dancers were on hand, too, for fabulous entertainment!

Top 10 Favorite Wedding Movies

Hello Wedding Bloggers! At Laura's Couture Collection we are excited to introduce a new weekly addition to our blog, Top Ten Tuesday! A new list will be featured every Tuesday. Be sure to check back for the newest list on wedding styles.

Top Ten Tuesday - Take 1

This week we introduce Top Ten Tuesday with the Top Ten Wedding Movies on our favorite list!

10. 27 Dresses

9. Made of Honor

8. The Wedding Planner

7. Wedding Crashers

6. Runaway Bride

5. Mamma Mia

4. The Wedding Date

3. My Big Fat Greek Wedding - Who doesn't have a crazy aunt that almost scares your fiance away?! Just steer clear of the bridesmaid dresses and letting that crazy aunt pick out your wedding dress.

2. My Best Friend's Wedding - Might be the opposite of what we like in our brides (friend's trying to steal the groom) but it's still a fun movie to watch during wedding time!

1. Father of the Bride - Laura and I both agree that this is the all time best wedding movie. For the parents out there, how many of you have cried during the scene below. Such a sweet story told with comedy, love and real life anecdotes. We just hope no one's fathers have been in jail due to a trip to the grocery store!

Top 10 Tuesday is a combination of both Laura and Elise's favorite wedding elements.
